Jacobs’s first collection of stories is set among the small ships, wharves and riverside pubs of his youth. A night-watchman recalls a skipper with an absurd hobby, mates scheme against their captains, crews smuggle and court and get into scrapes, and plain sailormen talk their way out of trouble in rich Cockney.
The book that made Jacobs famous, still among the funniest maritime humour in English. Download the free EPUB.
