The ship Pacific, carrying the Seagrave family to Australia, is wrecked and abandoned by her crew, leaving the parents, their children and the old seaman Masterman Ready on a deserted island. Ready’s practical knowledge teaches them to build shelter, find water, fish, plant and prepare their defences, while the children learn lessons of courage and duty.
