The author of Molly Bawn, writing as “The Duchess”, sets a high-spirited, teasing young woman loose among colonels, chaperones and country-house guests. Her mischief, her refusal to behave like a properly brought-up girl and the attentions of admirers who cannot tell when she is in earnest drive a light, bright comedy of manners and courtship.
Sunny late-Victorian romantic comedy, praised in its day as fresh and delightful. Download the free EPUB.
