Diaz looks at the American housewife of the 1870s, buried in cooking, sewing and cleaning, and asks how she is supposed to raise children well with no time to think or learn. She argues that the child-trainer above all needs culture, examines why household drudgery has swallowed women’s lives, and proposes practical ways out, ending with suggested topics for study and lectures.
An early, practical feminist argument about housework that still sounds familiar. Download the free EPUB.
