In a small Colorado college town, the timid biology professor Abednego Danner injects his pregnant wife with a serum that gives their son Hugo the strength and toughness of an insect scaled to human size. Hugo grows up hiding his powers and searches for a place where a superman can belong: college football, the Great War, business and politics.
A 1930 novel widely seen as a forerunner of the superhero, and a thoughtful study of alienation. Download the free EPUB.
