The linguist Wilhelm Bleek, at the request of Sir George Grey, gathered these fables from the Khoikhoi of Namaqualand through the missionary G. Krönlein. Grouped by their heroes, the stories tell of the clever jackal, the slow tortoise, the baboon who lost his right to walk upright, the lion and many others, with praise songs.
One of the earliest collections of southern African folk tales, and a delight for lovers of animal fables. Download the free EPUB.
