Posing as a translation from the lunar language, Defoe’s narrator describes the moon’s learning and its marvellous flying engine, the Consolidator, built of feathers that stand for members of Parliament. Under the fantasy lies sharp satire of English politics, the High Church party, oaths with hidden meanings and the quarrels of Queen Anne’s reign.
An early lunar-voyage satire by the author of Robinson Crusoe, for readers of Swift and political allegory. Download the free EPUB.
