On Christmas Eve, on the snowy stones of the Stephansplatz in Vienna, the orphan Fritzl plays Hungarian folk tunes and waltzes on his violin while his Scottish terrier Tzandi dances beside him. No coins come, but a stranger’s questions about the boy who has only his fiddle and his dog lead to friends in high places.
