In the early 1830s Hoskins travelled up the Nile beyond the second cataract into Nubia and the Sudan, then under the rule of Mohammed Ali. He describes the country and its people and pays special attention to the temples and pyramids of ancient Meroë and Gebel Barkal, drawn on the spot by himself and an artist he employed.
An early record of Nubia’s monuments, valued by historians of Kush and of Egyptology. Download the free EPUB.
