Young Dr. Gray, out in a wood, finds a dead man in a pool, and the case looks at first like simple misfortune. Dr. Thorndyke thinks otherwise, and the trail leads to a dead man’s estate, a mysterious Mr. Bendelow and danger to the victim’s daughter, Marion D’Arblay, whose life Gray and Thorndyke must guard.
A fine example of the scientific detective story by the creator of Thorndyke, fair to the reader throughout. Download the free EPUB.
