This Territorial battalion of the Durham Light Infantry went to France in April 1915 and fought in the Ypres Salient, at Armentières, on the Somme, at Arras and on the Lys and the Aisne. Its record was pieced together from notes gathered for troop lectures in 1917, the only papers that survived the disaster of 27 May 1918, and is completed by appendices on honours and casualties.
