At the Pan-American Fair in Buffalo in 1901, J. William Lloyd met a young Pima named Edward Wood, and that meeting led him to the Arizona village where Wood’s uncle Comalk-Hawk-Kih told the tribe’s traditions. Arranged night by night, the stories begin with the creation and the flood, then tell of Vandaih the man-eagle, the turquoises and the red bird and the old heroes.
A valuable record of Pima oral tradition, gathered with care and respect. Download the free EPUB.
