Helen M. Winslow begins with the Pretty Lady, a dignified cat who followed her from boarding-house to seaside cottage, and goes on to the other cats of her household and those of her friends. She adds cat lore, cats in history and literature, Dick Whittington’s legend, cat shows and homes for strays in England and America.
