A bear’s son tests his strength by pulling up beech trees, a prince guards a golden apple-tree from nine peahens, Papalluga loses her golden slipper, and a hero called True Steel hides the secret of his strength on a far mountain. These are folk tales of Serbia, translated for English readers with all their giants, dragons and clever peasants.
A vivid introduction to Balkan folklore, for anyone who loves fairy tales beyond Grimm and Perrault. Download the free EPUB.
