H. L. Mencken and George Jean Nathan turn the most notorious of Roman emperors into the hero of a three-act burlesque. Heliogabalus, surrounded by wives, courtiers and Praetorians, finds his palace overturned by domestic rebellion, people hiding under beds and sudden reversals, as the authors aim their jokes at marriage, religion and moral reform.
