Benjamin Harris, a shepherd’s son turned soldier, served with the 95th Rifles in Portugal and Spain and in the terrible winter retreat to Corunna. Years later, working as a shoemaker in Soho, he told his story to Henry Curling: battles and marches, officers and comrades, women and children following the army, and the hunger and cold of the long road.
One of the finest ordinary soldiers’ memoirs of the Napoleonic Wars, loved by readers of Sharpe and military history alike. Download the free EPUB.
