In March 1920 the battle-cruiser Renown sailed from Portsmouth carrying the young Prince of Wales on a tour of the Empire’s Pacific dominions. A journalist on board records the voyage by Barbados, Panama and California, then the crowds, ceremonies, bonfires and country towns of Australia and New Zealand.
