A young British officer who lived among the Malays of Pahang and the east coast sets down nineteen tales and sketches of courts and villages. He writes of rajas and their feuds, a battle of women, cockfights and bullfights, a were-tiger, a chieftain who runs amok, and the weddings and customs of the kampong.
Vivid colonial-era storytelling by a future governor, with the assumptions of British rule in 1897. Download the free EPUB.
