Frank J. Cannon, son of a senior Mormon leader and one of Utah’s first United States senators, tells of the federal raids against polygamy, his missions to Washington, the 1890 Manifesto and statehood, and what he saw as the church leadership’s later betrayal of its promises. Written with Harvey O’Higgins for Everybody’s Magazine in 1911, it is a partisan insider’s indictment rather than a neutral history.
A vivid, controversial source for historians of Utah, the Latter-day Saints and Progressive-era muckraking. Download the free EPUB.
