Sir Seymour Fortescue recalls a naval career that began in the gunrooms of the 1870s and took him to the Dardanelles in 1878, Egypt in 1882 and Suakin, then to the royal yacht and long service as equerry to the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII. He served on the headquarters staff in South Africa too, and writes with easy humour of clubs, courts and old friends.
Genial reminiscences full of naval and court anecdote, for readers curious about the Victorian navy and Edwardian society. Download the free EPUB.
