The book presents the journal of Alfred Bannerlee, Oxford antiquarian and athlete, kept during a stay in remote Aidenn Vale in Wales. A meddling parson, a bull, a bidding feast, an inquiry, a trial by combat and a bone among the old stones mark the stages of a nightmare from which the house party emerged half maddened, until Superintendent Salt arrives.
An atmospheric Golden Age puzzle with Welsh legend and antiquarian lore, for readers who like their mysteries strange. Download the free EPUB.
