A school full of chattering girls takes its time to accept the interloper who arrives at its door. At the seaside school there are ragtime dances, lessons in practical geography, rivalries and friendships, and a shy, mysterious schoolfellow named Gerda whose secret is tied to a meeting on the shore and the castle nearby.
