A young architectural editor of the 1920s takes stock of his art and looks ahead. Barman contrasts architecture with dress, considers how town-planning, zoning laws and the motor road were already shaping building form, and speculates on what new materials and new ways of living would do to the house, the street and the city.
A compact period piece of modernist forecasting, fascinating to read against the cities that actually got built. Download the free EPUB.
