The collection opens at a meeting of the Lady Hyacinths Shirt-Waist Club of St. Martha’s Settlement Mission, where Miss Masters is learning that her working girls have ideas of their own. The stories that follow move between tenement and drawing room, through Christmas guests, mistaken identities, romances and the comedy of well-meaning people trying to manage other people’s lives.
Warm, witty stories from the author of Little Citizens, best loved for her New York East Side sketches. Download the free EPUB.
