Imagining that the human race has vanished overnight, Hawthorne sets a fresh Adam and Eve down in a deserted Boston. Innocent of history, they wander through shops, churches, a prison, a bank and a library, puzzling over the strange artifacts of a civilisation whose customs now look absurd.
A short, satirical fantasy from Mosses from an Old Manse, for admirers of Hawthorne’s allegories. Download the free EPUB.
