Two brothers take different roads, one rising through the church by flattery, the other carrying his son to a distant island. The cousins they raise, the worldly young William and the frank, untutored Henry, are set side by side, while the cottager Hannah Primrose suffers for trusting the gentleman who seduces her.
A sharp, compassionate satire on rank and hypocrisy by the actress and playwright behind A Simple Story. Download the free EPUB.
