Ida M. Tarbell traces Lincoln’s ancestry back to the Lincolns of Hingham, Massachusetts, then follows his family from Kentucky to southern Indiana and Illinois. Drawing on documents and the recollections of people who knew him, she covers his schooling, his flatboat journeys, New Salem and his service in the Black Hawk War.
Groundbreaking research by the great investigative journalist, still a rich source for Lincoln’s frontier youth. Download the free EPUB.
