A young woman back from college finds an old scrapbook holding a veteran’s account of his service under the Confederate cavalry general Nathan Bedford Forrest. Sent to catch a Union spy, the young officer finds himself drawn to the elusive scout, who turns out to be a girl, and torn between duty and loyalty to her, with help from the quick-witted Whistling Jim.
A brisk romance of the war from the creator of Uncle Remus; its racial attitudes are those of the 1900s South. Download the free EPUB.
