Wagner’s four Ring operas are retold in short, plain chapters for young readers: the Rhine-daughters who carelessly lose their gold, Alberich’s theft and curse, Wotan’s castle and its payment, Brunhilde and the Valkyries, Siegfried the young smith, and the twilight of the gods. Verses from Oliver Huckel’s translations are woven through the prose.
