Sir John Drummond Hay represented Britain in Morocco for some forty years. His daughters completed this memoir from his own notes and letters, covering his boyhood, early service in Alexandria and Constantinople under Lord Ponsonby and Stratford Canning, and his missions to the Moroccan court at Tangier and Marrakesh.
A rich source on nineteenth-century Morocco and British diplomacy, full of personal anecdote. Download the free EPUB.
