Das Gemeinsame is a German-language translation of a work by René Arcos, a French poet associated with the Unanimist movement of the early twentieth century — a literary current that celebrated collective human experience, solidarity, and the life shared between individuals and communities. Arcos was a colleague of Jules Romains and Georges Duhamel and participated in the Abbaye community of writers and artists near Paris.
