The Cambridge scholar gathers addresses on Jewish literature and life, opening with Joseph ibn Zabara’s twelfth-century Book of Delight, a Hebrew frame tale of a giant guest full of fables of foxes, leopards, lions and a silversmith who took his wife’s counsel. Other papers range over medieval travel, martyrology and the curiosities of Jewish learning, one of them first delivered in Hebrew in Jerusalem.
Learned yet conversational, a rewarding companion for readers curious about medieval Jewish storytelling and scholarship. Download the free EPUB.
