Each short page pairs a scene drawn by the German illustrator Oscar Pletsch with a few lines of gentle text: Lucy and Jane playing at cooks, a wheel fallen off dolly’s chaise, a broken cup, a sick doll, a doll’s party, a strolling fiddler. The world is the Victorian nursery, full of small accidents, kisses and lessons in kindness.
A charming period piece for anyone who loves old picture books or wants a glimpse of nineteenth-century childhood. Download the free EPUB.
