Sitting in a lodge on the Two Medicine with Blackfoot friends, Grinnell gathered their stories of ancient times: Scarface, the trickster-creator Old Man, the Blackfoot genesis and the history of the three tribes. He adds an account of Blackfoot life, customs, hunting and warfare, and of the people’s situation in his own day.
