Hyde collects tales and verses told by Irish speakers that are coloured through and through by Christianity: St. Patrick facing the pagan Crom Dubh, holy wells, the Virgin’s lament, how covetousness came into the Church, a stone that tests the truth, and stories of Solomon and of rogues who meet their match.
A rich gathering by the Gaelic scholar who later became Ireland’s first president. Download the free EPUB.
