Young Bernal grows up in a big old house under the eye of a stern grandfather, puzzling over Santa Claus, candy canes, the garden of truth and a superlative cousin named Bill. Divided into the Age of Fable, the Age of Reason and the Age of Faith, the novel follows his restless search through belief and unbelief from boyhood into the world.
An early, thoughtful novel by the humorist who later wrote Ruggles of Red Gap and Merton of the Movies. Download the free EPUB.
