Tom Broadbent, a cheerful, self-satisfied English civil engineer, plans a land development scheme in the Irish village of Rosscullen and takes along his partner Larry Doyle, who left home years ago and dreads going back. Once there, Broadbent charms the locals, courts a parliamentary seat and a sweetheart, while the defrocked priest Father Keegan sees through everyone.
Shaw’s sharpest comedy of English and Irish misunderstanding, first staged at the Royal Court in 1904. Download the free EPUB.
