This Restoration satire of 1682 follows a newly married couple through the so-called pleasures of wedlock: courtship and the wedding feast, setting up house, pregnancy and lying-in, the christening, nurses and the costs of children, each pleasure turning out to be a fresh vexation. The second part, the confession of the new married couple, continues the joke. It was once attributed to Aphra Behn.
