Balzac’s last great pair of novels. In Cousin Betty, a spinster cousin nurses her envy of the Hulot family and helps the scheming Valérie Marneffe drain the old baron’s fortune. In Cousin Pons, an elderly musician and collector, devoted to his friend Schmucke, is despised by his rich relations until they discover what his collection is worth.
Two masterpieces of The Human Comedy, savage about money and family, for serious readers of the novel. Download the free EPUB.
