A proud Virginia bride, cruelly humiliated by her husband, raises her son Archy for revenge, and finds he has a bloodhound’s gift for following scent. Years later the hunt takes Archy to a Western silver-mining camp, where the visiting Sherlock Holmes arrives to investigate a murder and the miners watch two very different detectives at work.
