Burton Egbert Stevenson arranges a vast gathering of poems in the order of the events they describe, from the colonial period and the Revolution through the Mexican War and the Civil War and on into his own century. Bryant, Whittier and Longfellow stand beside many forgotten newspaper poets and balladeers.
An inviting way to meet American history as its poets told it, battle by battle and year by year. Download the free EPUB.
