Before he became famous for swashbucklers, Sabatini wrote this 1913 history of Tomás de Torquemada and the Inquisition he organised. It covers medieval persecutions, the Dominican order, Isabella of Castile, the Jews and New-Christians of Spain, the procedures of the tribunals and the expulsion of 1492, with episodes such as the murder of the inquisitor Pedro Arbués.
Popular history told with a storyteller’s pace, for readers of Sabatini’s novels and of Spanish history. Download the free EPUB.
