After many stays among the pueblos of northern Arizona, Hough describes the Hopi with open admiration: their towns and country, family and clan life, food and child-rearing, potters and weavers, games, marriage and burial customs, the great ceremonial dances, their myths and traditions, and the ruins left by the ancient people of the region. Short biographies of individual Hopi round out the portrait.
An affectionate early ethnography that treats the Hopi as neighbours rather than curiosities. Download the free EPUB.
