Cecilia Morgan Madigan opens the book with a solemn, badly spelled list of resolutions: to be first at school, to be patient with Papa, to stop stealing candy from her sister Kate. Around her swarm Kate, Bep, Fom, Split and baby Frank, a pack of half-wild girls growing up in Virginia City, Nevada, under the eye of a stern aunt and a bewildered father.
Funny, sharp episodes of sisterhood in a Western mining town, for readers who enjoy Little Women with the manners left out. Download the free EPUB.
