At a wrestling school in Athens, an elderly Socrates falls into talk with two boys, Lysis and Menexenus, and sets out to discover what friendship is. Is the friend the like or the unlike, the good or the neither-good-nor-bad? Every answer collapses, in a short dialogue full of the life of Greek youth, introduced by Jowett.
A brief, warm and inconclusive dialogue that makes an easy first step into Plato. Download the free EPUB.
