The Solomon Islands and Their Natives is H. B. Guppy’s nineteenth-century account of the geology, natural history, and peoples of the Solomon archipelago in the western Pacific. A naval surgeon and naturalist, Guppy combines scientific description of the islands with observations of the customs, society, and material life of their inhabitants.

The book is an early ethnographic and scientific source on Melanesia, recording details of village life, trade, warfare, and belief alongside notes on coral reefs and island formation. Written from a colonial-era perspective that should be read critically, it nonetheless preserves valuable observations from a region then little known to outsiders. It remains of interest to anthropologists, naturalists, and historians of Pacific exploration.
