Robert Herrick (1591–1674) is one of the great English lyric poets of the seventeenth century, though he lived and died in relative obscurity. Hesperides (1648) gathers his secular verse — over a thousand short poems of love, nature, festivity, and mortality, including the justly famous ‘Gather ye rosebuds while ye may’. Noble Numbers gathers his sacred verse in a companion volume.
Herrick’s mastery of the short lyric is unmatched among his contemporaries. Both volumes are presented complete in this free EPUB, cleanly formatted with poem titles and stanza spacing preserved.
