A British officer spent 1908-9 among the Bora, Witoto and neighbouring peoples of the upper Amazon, and recorded their houses, tools, agriculture, dances, warfare and beliefs at a length nobody else attempted. The framing and the subtitle are unmistakably of 1915; the ethnographic record is a primary source for a world the rubber trade then destroyed.
